Optimed partners with PMS providers for AI-supported referral tool
The ReferAI referral letter generation tool will be integrated into the practice management software of several providers
19 February 2026
Healthcare technology company, Optimed, has formed a strategic partnership with a series of practice management software providers to bring an artificial intelligence (AI) powered referral letter generation tool to practices.
ReferAI is designed specifically for optometrist practice management software to streamline referrals by intelligently structuring clinical data.
Through the integration, the companies suggest clinicians using the tool could complete high-quality referrals in around one minute, addressing a workflow bottleneck in practices.
This gives more time back to clinicians to focus on patient care, the companies shared, also suggesting that it could enhance two-way communication with ophthalmology.
Dr Trusit Dave, founder and director of Optimed, said: “ReferAI addresses the challenges faced by optometrists day-to-day by improving efficiency and freeing up time to see patients.”
Forming these partnerships enables Optimed to expand access to the tool in order to save time, improve referral quality, and support patient journeys.
One of the first partnerships Optimed has formed is with I-Clarity to bring the tool to its software.
Charlotte Boorman, director at I-Clarity, shared: “This partnership reflects our commitment to innovation and supporting optometrists with technology that makes a real difference in daily practice. Integrating ReferAI into our PMS helps practices save time while maintaining high clinical standards.”
Optimed has also entered a partnership with Optinet to bring ReferAI to the NOVA platform.
Chris Smith, operations director at Optinet, said the partnership was focused on “making life easier for optometrists.”
“By integrating ReferAI into our PMS, we’re giving practices a smarter, faster way to manage referrals while maintaining the highest clinical standards. Optimed’s approach aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering meaningful, clinician-first technology,” Smith said.
Further details on the ReferAI integration, as well as partnerships with other major practice management software providers, are set to be announced in the coming months.
