Commenting on her new role, Gale said: “I’m really excited to be joining Primary Eyecare Services at such a pivotal moment for the NHS.”

Gale described a “huge potential” for providers like Primary Eyecare Services to play a bigger role in local systems, working collaboratively with integrated care boards, NHS Trusts, primary care partners at scale, and the voluntary sector.

“My focus will be on strengthening these relationships, ensuring we are well positioned to support system priorities and deliver innovative models of care for the communities we serve,” she said.

In her new role, Gale will lead Primary Eyecare Services’ strategic engagement across the NHS, aligning activity with national priorities. She will ensure Primary Eyecare Services remains impactful and embedded within evolving collaborative arrangements.

Welcoming Gale to the team, Dharmesh Patel, chief executive of Primary Eyecare Services, said: “Rebecca brings exactly the strategic experience and system insight we need as the NHS continues to evolve. Her background at the LGA and NHS Confederation gives her a deep understanding of national policy and local system dynamics.”
