The two-day conference and exhibition will mark the 50th anniversary of the event
21 January 2026
A date has been confirmed for the British Contact Lens Association’s (BCLA) 2027 Clinical Conference & Exhibition, which will mark the 50th anniversary of the event.
The conference will be held at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham from 19–20 June 2027.
The event, focused on the anterior eye and contact lens field, will showcase research, innovation and clinical insight, alongside demonstrations and hands-on workshops.
Delegates will be able to attend lectures, group discussions, peer review, and interactive sessions, as well as BCLA Fellowship presentations.
Brad Parkes, chief executive of the BCLA, commented: “For five decades the BCLA Clinical Conference & Exhibition has been at the forefront of our profession and our 50th anniversary edition is going to be a spectacular celebration of a golden era for contact lenses and the anterior eye.
The event will bring together expert-led education and patient-focused clinical training, Parkes said.
“It promises to be a brilliant weekend packed with learning, networking and celebrating, inspiring eye care professionals to make a real difference to patients’ lives and ensure we are ‘always learning,’” he added.
Parkes continued: “We’re delighted to be staging this event in Birmingham – a modern multicultural city at the beating heart of Britain. We will be welcoming visitors from around the world and we look forward to them exploring our second city and the wider area.”
Event organisers said the BCLA Celebrates awards evening will champion five decades of leadership and innovation, alongside programme highlights such as the BCLA Medal Address and Research Awards.
