EssilorLuxottica introduces self-study area to Leonardo
The CPD-accredited area of the learning platform features content exploring the role of LOCs, myopia management, confidentiality, and team dynamics
19 November 2025
EssilorLuxottica has introduced a new continuing professional development (CPD) accredited self-study area on its digital e-learning platform for eye care professionals (ECPs), Leonardo.
The Continuing Education section of the learning ecosystem contains a collection of General Optical Council (GOC) approved courses available to watch on-demand.
Content currently listed on the platform includes topics ranging from the role of local optical committees, to confidentiality, the practice team, and myopia.
Expert-curated content will be added-to on a regular basis, the company noted.
In one Q&A video podcast, Roma Malik, non-executive director at the Local Optical Committee Support Unit, discusses the role of LOCs in shaping eye care services. As chair of Nottinghamshire LOC, Malik shared her journey into leadership, the importance of getting involved, and explains how LOCs support service delivery, patient safety, and professional standards.
The Establishing a healthy team dynamic CPD course focuses on enhancing team performance through effective goal setting, time management, and communication skills.
Confidentiality in the digital age focuses on the importance of confidentiality in modern healthcare and challenges posed by digital transformation, with insights into safeguarding patient data, understanding legal frameworks, and mitigating risks from cybersecurity threats and human error.
Another highlight from the platform is a lecture by Dr Alicia Thompson on the need for careful frame selection when using myopia management treatments for children, exploring what practitioners should be looking at when dispensing to children.
Sameen Qayyum, Leonardo Vision Care training expert at EssilorLuxottica, said the new section of the platform “offers a fantastic resource for ECPs to support their CPD journey.”
“The platform also delivers an incredible variety of content with varying formats tailored to every learner’s development throughout their careers including live discussions, videos, interactive lessons, and key opinion leader lectures,” Qayyum added.
