OT’s deputy editor, Lucy Miller, joins the judging panel for the 2025 competition

The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has announced the judges for its World Sight Day 2025 Photo Competition, with Optometry Today’s (OT) deputy editor, Lucy Miller, set to join the panel for the first time.

Submissions are currently open for the IAPB World Sight Day Photo Competition, and close on 16 October 2025.

The competition, which is supported by Bayer, invites photographers to capture what it means to ‘#LoveYourEyes.’

The 2025 judging panel includes Lucy Miller, deputy editor of OT. She said: “Optometry Today is delighted to help out with judging for IAPB’s World Sight Day Photo Competition 2025. As the IAPB celebrates 10 years of the competition, it is important for everyone in the eye care community to remember that better vision is a global effort.”

“I can’t wait to see the inspiring images that both amateur and professional photographers bring to the competition this year,” Miller added.

The panel also includes Samit Sakib Gore, director of operations and innovation at Vision Friend Sakib Gore; Anne Cooper, editorial director of 20/20 Magazine and Vision Monday, Jobson Optical Group, and Jessica Miller, deputy online editor at Amateur Photographer Magazine, Photographer and Curator.

Photographer and winner of the 2024 competition, Abdullah Al-Majed, completes the panel.

IAPB launches World Sight Day 2025 photography competition

The competition aims to highlight the impact of vision loss and eye health globally

Courtenay Holden, head of communications and campaigns at IAPB, commented: “The World Sight Day Photo Competition is not only about beautiful images, it’s about telling powerful stories that raise awareness of eye health.”

“We are thrilled to welcome such a diverse panel of judges, bringing expertise from across eye health, photography, and media. Their perspectives will be invaluable in choosing this year’s winners, and we cannot wait to see the incredible images that the 10th anniversary competition will inspire,” she added.

Winners of the photo competition will be announced on 4 November 2025.
