Women in Vision UK to hold AGM
Leadership and career progression will be among topics discussed at the annual event for vision research and eye care professionals

Women in Vision UK will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) at Engineers’ House in Bristol on Friday (22 November).
The network aims to address gender inequality within ophthalmology, optometry and vision sciences.
A range of topics will be covered at the AGM, including leadership, career progression, and building and maintaining a professional brand in within the vision sector.
Speakers at the event will include Professor Dame Carrie MacEwen, Lydia Chang, Dr Lola Solebo and Sabrina Shah-Desai.
Women in Vision UK vice president, Dr Bethany Higgins, shared that the network, which was founded in 2017, now has more than 350 members.
“That number is increasing all the time, which is fantastic,” she said.
“We foster a network that supports each other, providing mentoring opportunities and the chance for members to gain insight from guest speakers,” Higgins observed.
