The downloadable resource provides step-by-step guidance for contractors, optometrists and dispensing opticians making a claim
25 September 2024
The AOP has released the 2024 edition of its guide on making claims for General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) work in England.
Available to download, the Making accurate claims in England 2024 guide has been produced by the AOP, supported by ABDO and FODO.
The resource provides step-by-step guidance for contractors, optometrists, dispensing opticians, and ophthalmic medical practitioners who are making a claim.
Describing the guide as “essential” for contractors, optometrists, and dispensing opticians performing GOS work in England, Dr Peter Hampson, clinical and policy director at the AOP, said: “We know that navigating the GOS fees and claims process can be complex and sometimes difficult.”
“This guide is designed to be easy to follow, covering every type of claim, to enable practitioners to go through the claims journey more smoothly, and help prevent reclaims in the future,” he said.
The resource covers topics including post-payment verification, filling and signing GOS forms, verifying patient eligibility for GOS and vouchers, repairs and replacements, and more.
The information is based on the most recent regulations NHS General Ophthalmic Services and optical vouchers and payments regulations in England.
The AOP has a suite of resources to support members with GOS claims, including the GOS audit tool.
The Making accurate claims in England guide can be downloaded from the AOP website.
