Laura Wade-Gery appointed chair of Moorfields
Wade-Gery will take over the role from April 2023
27 October 2022
Laura Wade-Gery has been appointed the new chair of Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, succeeding Tessa Green CBE.
Green steps down from the role in November. Vice-chair, Ros Given-Wilson, will serve as interim chair before Wade-Gery takes up the role in April 2023.
Wade-Gery, who is currently the chair of NHS Digital, said that she is “honoured” to be joining Moorfields as chair.
“With the rollout of a new strategy for excellence underway, I am looking forward to playing my part in helping drive forward digital innovation to help Moorfields continue to deliver world leading eye care,” she shared.
Moorfields chief executive, Dr Martin Kuper, highlighted that Wade-Gery brings substantial experience leading large-scale organisations, with an emphasis on using digital, data and technology to transform services.
“I am certain that Laura’s expertise will ensure Moorfields advances at the very cutting edge of eye care treatment, research and education. We look forward to welcoming Laura in April,” he said.
Kuper also paid tribute to Green’s service as chair of Moorfields.
“I would like to thank her personally for her support, and for her dedication and drive in helping to shape the legacy of Moorfields,” Kuper said.
