Specsavers launches a new prescription safety eyewear range
Twenty styles available in a range of sizes, shapes, materials and colours for men and women
17 March 2017
Specsavers has launched a new range of prescription safety eyewear. The multiple believes the launch is ‘a significant industry move.’
A total of 20 JCB frames have been available in Specsavers UK and Ireland stores exclusively from 14 March. The JCB safety eyewear brand is renowned for its quality, safety and durability.
There is a wide range of frame sizes and shapes in the new safety eyewear collection, with men’s, women’s and unisex designs. Colours include satin or matt black, silver, gold or bronze-coloured metals, clear frames, grey and blue, or red and purple in smaller sizes.
The new frames are available in metal and polycarbonate, with the lens material dependent on the requirements of the specific work activity.
The lens options include bifocals, varifocals, polycarbonate lenses, clip-on UV tints, tints, toughened glass, anti-reflection treatment, UV treatment, reaction lenses and ultra-clear treatment.
Director of strategic alliances at Specsavers, Jim Lythgow, said: “We have subjected more than 440 pairs of prescription safety glasses to extremely rigorous tests. As you would expect from Specsavers and JCB, these glasses are tough.
“We are also really pleased with the aesthetics of the range. Our research has shown that style and comfort are also important in safety eyewear.
“The new JCB range offers a great choice of colours and designs, from chunky, wraparound-style glasses, to more sleek and minimalist options, in everything from the distinctive black and yellow of JCB, to metallic blue and satin silver.”
Senior licensing manager for JCB, Paul Tudor, said: “We are very excited about this new partnership. Health, safety and wellbeing have always been a vital part of the JCB philosophy. This extensive range of fashionable, high-quality, tough prescription safety eyewear is a perfect fit with our brand values.
“Specsavers is the perfect partner, like JCB, it is market leading, family-owned and globally recognised,” he concluded.
The new safety eyewear is available through the Specsavers Corporate Eyecare eVoucher scheme.
An eVoucher costs £36.81 and entitles the employee to one complete pair of prescription safety glasses, fitted with standard single vision lenses, including a scratch-resistant treatment.
