Frame supplier, Eyespace, has celebrated two years of B Corporation certification.

Eyespace initially achieved the certification, which recognises that businesses have met a set of standards in governance, sustainability, employee, community and social impact, in 2023.

The eyewear company has continued to embed responsible practices across its operations, products and supply chain with a roadmap of initiatives to reduce environmental impact and support long-term responsible growth.

Initiatives have included the rollout of biodegradable packaging and demo lenses across collections from 2020, independently tested to recognised ISO standards.

More than 430 of Eyespace’s stock keeping units are classed as sustainable, based on material criteria, and the company plans to increase this further by 2030.

The company launched a free demo lens recycling scheme in January 2025 as part of its B Corp commitment. This scheme is open to any optical practice and RX lab across the country. Approximately 130,000 (300kg) demo lenses have been diverted from waste, the company suggested.

Jayne Abel, CEO and co-founder, said: “The positive impacts of B Corp certification provide fresh energy and motivation to our sustainability mission, but it is the ongoing changes that truly matter. Certification reflects our long-standing commitment to sustainability, continued focus on reducing plastic waste, and serves to strengthen our culture and community.”

Investments made by the company include the installation of solar panels at Eyespace HQ in Worcestershire, UK, expanded electric vehicle charging, and an increased number of hybrid vehicles within its fleet. The company also maintains ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations.

Emily Andrews, product director and chief sustainability officer, commented: “Responsible product development has always been central to Eyespace, and B Corp certification has further strengthened how we design, source, and manufacture our eyewear.”

"It has reinforced the importance of meticulous record keeping and full traceability across every sustainable element of a frame, from demo lenses and frame materials to the packaging,” she said.

Andrews added that the company’s sustainable commitments have driven supply-chain decisions. This has included transitioning to sea freight wherever possible.

“Looking ahead, our focus is on continuing to raise the bar for sustainability in eyewear, while better highlighting our progress and supporting practices through education and CPD,” she added.

The company said it has strengthened its charitable and community engagement, supporting the Trussell Trust Foodbank through matched employee donations, a 2025 YoungMinds fundraising partnership through sales of the Rockstar frame, Macmillan initiatives, and national campaigns like Children in Need.

In January 2026, Eyespace has donated more than 380 frames to Vision Care for Homeless People.
