Fight for Sight funds 13 grants

National sight loss charity Fight for Sight has selected a total of 13 research projects that it will invest in through its latest grant awards, totalling £180,000.

Investing in the projects in partnership with nine different organisations, Fight for Sight has doubled the number of partnership projects that it has worked on year-on-year. This, the charity explained, is in order to “further extend our impact and support for innovative research.”

Grants have been awarded to support research in a number of key areas including dementia and visual impairment, Birdshot uveitis, glaucoma, retinal vascular disease, Leber hereditary optic neuropathy, corneal and external eye conditions, and dementia and age-related macular degeneration.

While Dr Maryse Bailly receives funding in partnership with British Thyroid Foundation for a study on A novel pathway regulating adipogenesis in thyroid eye disease, Dr Lee Mcilreavy has been given a grant in partnership with the Nystagmus Network for a project on Diagnosing infantile nystagmus: a novel eye tracking approach.
