Optical Express donates laser eye surgery package to a charity auction in aid of North Berwick's lifeboat station
24 August 2015
Optical Express has donated a laser eye surgery package worth more than £6,000 which will be auctioned for charity in a bid to raise much needed funds for North Berwick's lifeboat station.
When auctioned, the package will help the North Berwick Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) raise part of the £20,000 it needs to keep its lifeboats in operation annually.
Optical Express has made this same donation for the last six consecutive years, and the funds will help train volunteers and pay for the general upkeep of the lifeboat station.
Regional manager for Optical Express, David Carson, said: "Optical Express is delighted to support RNLI North Berwick.
"As someone who hails from North Berwick, I know how much of a lifeline the RNLI is to the local community. As well as being popular with holidaymakers and day trippers the area also has a strong fishing tradition, so it is vital that the seas are protected by the lifeboats."
