Ian Jarvis BSc (Hons) MCOptom DipTp(IP)

Ian Jarvis has been in independent practice in Dundee for over 30 years and qualified as an independent prescriber in 2011. As chair of the Scottish committee of optometrists, his advocacy for using NHS funding for independent prescribers training led to a significant increase in independent prescribing optometrists in Scotland. Ian served on the council for the College of Optometrists and the research committee. He served on the optometry Scotland council for six years, representing the independent sector. While on the OS executive, he contributed to the development of the community glaucoma and advanced eye care schemes. He was recently awarded the Philip Cole prize for excellence in practice-based research for his work on the effect of topical azithromycin on MGD.
