Optometry Today (OT), in partnership with the AOP and headline sponsor CooperVision, is pleased to present a full day of myopia-focused education.

This event features a series of online sessions delivered by national and international experts, offering valuable insights into the contemporary clinical management of myopia.

The programme includes six webinars, each providing one interactive CPD point. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field, build confidence in managing myopia and exchange knowledge with peers. Delegates may attend the full programme or choose individual sessions that best match their clinical interests.

Session 4: How to identify and manage a pre-myope

This session looks at the important topic of pre-myopia. The lecture will cover the definition and management of pre-myopia and include valuable guidance on how to counsel, inform and advise parents. The lecture will review the evidence that supports prescribing plano myopia control spectacles and the outcomes of such interventions.

Learning outcomes

  • Practitioners will be able to counsel and advise parents about pre-myopia with confidence (s.2)
  • Practitioners will be able to identify pre-myopes and be familiar with evidence-based options for managing and treating them (s.7).

Elizabeth Yeowart-Montgomery

Lizzy Yeowart MontgomeryLizzy graduated from Aston University in 1996 with a first-class degree in optometry. She has extensive experience in independent optometric practice with myopia management, biometry, OCT, ultra-widefield imaging and MECS. She left the consulting room in March 2024 to become a medical science liaison for EssilorLuxottica. This field- based role covers North England, Scotland and Ireland with a particular focus on myopia management.

Lizzy enjoys writing and was a columnist for Optometry Today for several years. She has created copy and digital content for global brands within the optical industry.
