Myopia Day - Session 3 - Webinar: New paradigms in myopia practice – from evidence to everyday practice

Optometry Today (OT), in partnership with the AOP and headline sponsor CooperVision, is pleased to present a full day of myopia-focused education.

This event features a series of online sessions delivered by national and international experts, offering valuable insights into the contemporary clinical management of myopia.

The programme includes six webinars, each providing one interactive CPD point. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field, build confidence in managing myopia and exchange knowledge with peers. Delegates may attend the full programme or choose individual sessions that best match their clinical interests.

Session 3: New paradigms in myopia practice – from evidence to everyday practice

The global rise in myopia presents a growing public health challenge, with increasing evidence linking high myopia to a significantly elevated lifetime risk of sight-threatening ocular disease and visual impairment. At the same time, advances in risk stratification, clinical management and emerging therapies are transforming how eye care professionals approach myopia in everyday practice.

This educational webinar will bridge the gap between scientific evidence and practical implementation, equipping clinicians with the knowledge and tools needed to identify at-risk patients, integrate effective management pathways into routine care, improve access to treatment and understand the evolving landscape of myopia interventions.

Learning outcomes

Practitioners will be able to:

• Explore practical strategies to increase patient access and uptake of myopia management services (s.1, s.2)
• Recognise the long-term ocular health consequences associated with progressive myopia and high myopia (s.5)
• Identify children at greatest risk of myopia onset and progression using evidence-based risk factors and clinical indicators (s.7)
• Incorporate key clinical assessments and monitoring protocols into routine practice (s.7)
• Review current and emerging myopia control therapies and their place in clinical practice (s.5)
• Translate evidence from clinical studies into actionable patient management plans (s.5, s.7).
