A practice in Banstead has invested £100,000 in opening an additional testing room to meet increased customer demand.

Specsavers Banstead has opened a fourth testing room with new testing equipment, increasing its service provision by 25%.

Setting up the fourth testing room has allowed for the practice’s pre-registration optometrist, Januja Pirapakaran, to take on the room and continue her training.

Timesh Patel, director at Specsavers Banstead, said: “We have had an increase in demand for appointments and wanted to have a room available for Januja to take on and make her own.”

“We’re delighted in her success as a pre-registration optometrist and are excited to see her complete her training and become fully qualified later this year,” he added.

Pirapakaran joined the team in October 2022, taking a gap year from her studies to ensure she was making the right choice in pursuing a career in optics. Realising that this was the career for her, she completed her degree before joining the team full-time.

Pirapakaran thanked the directors at Specsavers Banstead for their support, commenting: “It’s fantastic to see business owners invest so much time and effort into supporting their team and the business as a whole.”

“I’m excited to continue my training and see where my career in optometry takes me,” she added.

Patel shared that the investment in a new testing room is a sign of the practice’s dedication to serving the Banstead community.
