An independent practice group in Leicestershire has raised more than £1220 for a local hospice charity through winter fundraising efforts.

Edmonds & Slatter Opticians practices raised money throughout the winter for the Loros Hospice, which provides free care and support to terminally ill patients and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

Fundraising activities held by the practices included Christmas jumper days, winter raffles, and the collection of voluntary donations from patients following complimentary glasses repairs and adjustments.

A total of £1220.72 was raised by the practices for the local charity. The cheque was presented to Laura Roberts, community fundraiser at Loros.

Tim Cole, director at Edmond & Slatter, commented: “As independent opticians, it’s really important for us to engage with the community, and all of the team at Edmonds & Slatter have volunteered their free time for our charity events.”

Edmonds & Slatter Opticians have named Loros Hospice as its charity of the year for the remainder of 2026.

Linda Southin, operations manager at Edmonds & Slatter, shared: “We’re proud to support Loros as our charity of the year. It’s an incredibly worthwhile cause, deeply rooted in the local community and truly deserving of our backing.”

“With Loros celebrating its 40th anniversary last year and Edmonds & Slatter marking our own 40th this year, the timing felt perfectly aligned. It’s a meaningful opportunity to revisit one of our original charity partners and focus our fundraising efforts where they can make a real impact,” she added.
