DIT appoints adjunct professor in optometry
Optometrist Professor Jonathan Jackson is appointed at the Dublin Institute of Optometry
10 October 2018
The Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) has announced the appointment of Professor Jonathan Jackson (pictured) as an adjunct professor in optometry.
Professor Jackson is the second-ever practitioner to be appointed to the role, the DIT confirmed.
Professor Jackson was Northern Ireland’s first optometrist to be appointed in a hospital setting and today manages a team of 35 other optometrists at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
The optometrist will give his inaugural lecture for DIT on 21 November. During the talk, the optometrist will describe hospital optometry’s journey in Northern Ireland, from his initial appointment to the present day. He will also outline the opportunities that he believes exist in hospital optometry in the country.
Professor Jackson specialises in contact lenses and paediatric low vision.
