Macular Society appoints director of fundraising
Emma Malcolm joins the charity
21 May 2018
National sight loss charity, the Macular Society, has announced the appointment of Emma Malcolm (pictured) as director of fundraising.
Joining the charity in the newly-created role, Ms Malcolm will be responsible for strengthening and developing all aspects of fundraising for the society. This includes finding ways to maximise funding and generate additional revenue for research into treatment and finding a cure for macular disease, the charity explained.
Prior to her appointment at the Macular Society, Ms Malcolm was associate director for fundraising and supporter engagement at Rethink Mental Illness. She also has experience at Prostate Action, Prostate Cancer Research Foundation and Dyslexia Action.
Speaking about her appointment, Ms Malcolm said: “It’s a really exciting time to be joining the Macular Society.
“Our work to help people affected by macular disease is solely funded by donations, so we’ll be looking at ways to try and increase those income streams. We want to ensure we’re directing as much of that revenue as we can into research programmes and other core activities.”
Chief executive at the Macular Society, Cathy Yelf, added: “Emma has a strong track record of delivering successful fundraising activities for a wide range of third sector organisations. Her skills and expertise in this area are second to none and we’re delighted to be welcoming her to the team.”
