The International Society of Contact Lens Specialists (ISCLS) has raised £680 for Vision Aid Oversees (VAO) during its recent 45th congress meeting in Edinburgh.
The funds were raised through a raffle, with a limited edition replica royal Corgi up for grabs. Modelled on a Corgi given to Queen Elizabeth in the 1950s, the prize was worth £300.
Donated by Nigel and Rita Burnett-Hodd, the prize was won by ISCLS president, Dr Richard Davis, who gave his prize to Alex and Drew Barnett, the sons of optometrist Melissa Barnett.
The ISCLS was established by Wilhelm Sohnges, Frank Dickinson and Jack Neill in 1953. It is limited to 40 full members and is designed to be a forum for “intuition and inventiveness,’’ explained ISCLS honorary secretary, Mr Burnett-Hodd.
