Optical group raises £10k for charity

Independent optical chain, the Hakim Group, hosted a charity sports day and raised more than £7,500 for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) last month. 

Welcoming staff, business associates, friends and family to the inaugural event, which the company dubbed the Hakim Games, more than 150 people attended. 

Fairground games, live auctions and donations took place throughout the event, held at Somerford Hall, Staffordshire. 

The event marked the end of a month-long period of fundraising by the opticians group which saw it succeed in exceeding its annual target of raising £10,000 for VAO. 

Speaking about the fundraising initiative, CEO of the Hakim Group, Imran Hakim, commented: “This event was a brilliant way of bringing together all aspects of the businesses; suppliers, practices and partners to unite them behind a great cause. 

“The practices have all been doing their own fundraising in their communities and we are well on target to surpass our annual goal. 

“I would like to thank everyone who attended for helping to make this such a fantastic event, particularly our charity committee. Without them this event would not have been possible.”
