Session 5: Beyond spectacles – real-world insights and three-year evidence in paediatric myopia control

Understanding the real-world challenges families face in managing childhood myopia is key to improving long term outcomes. This session explores insights from a survey capturing children’s and parents’ experiences with vision correction – highlighting the practical and social limitations of spectacles and the missed opportunity to discuss contact lenses early in the journey.

We will also review three year global clinical data demonstrating the sustained myopia control efficacy of a soft contact lens in children aged seven to 12 years. Attendees will gain evidence based insights to confidently broaden conversations with families and support informed, child appropriate vision correction choices.

Learning outcomes

  • Practitioners will be able to communicate effectively with children and their families about myopia management (s.2)
