Obituary: Philippe Lafont

OT is sad to report the death of Philippe Lafont, president of the Silmo Paris trade show.

Since 2012, Mr Lafont has devoted himself to developing the French exhibition, seeking to make Silmo a flagship forum for all industry stakeholders. 

Mr Lafont continued the work begun by the show’s long time leader, the late Silmo president, Guy Charlot. 

Mr Lafont’s commitment has seen Silmo become a valuable tool for opticians and has helped to raise the profile of the French optical sector. Under his leadership, Silmo has also pursued its development internationally.

A press statement from Silmo Paris said: "His death is a huge loss for all who were fortunate enough to work with him. Silmo’s administrators and teams extend their deepest sympathy to his family and friends."
