AOP launches CPD-accredited UK roadshow series to amplify the voice of the profession

The AOP is holding nationwide events to set out its Five-Year Strategy for members and build the collective voice of optometry

The Association of Optometrists (AOP) has launched a new series of roadshow events taking place across the UK, offering members the opportunity to hear more about the organisation’s Five-Year Strategy to deliver visionary change in optometry, eye care and health.

The roadshow programme comes at a time of significant change in the UK. The roadshows will bring members together to explore how the profession can continue to raise its profile and showcase the role optometrists and dispensing opticians play in improving access to eye care services and easing pressures on the wider healthcare system.

Each session will provide an overview of the AOP’s new Five-Year Strategy, including a focus on advocacy and the progress already achieved by the profession. Attendees will have the opportunity to share on-the-ground experiences and insights with the AOP, and inform strategies going forward.

Adam Sampson, AOP Chief Executive, said: “Optometry plays a crucial role in eye care and eye health, and the profession’s voice must be heard clearly and confidently. These events will help our members understand the direction of the healthcare system, how their expertise fits within wider health priorities, and how they can support the priorities that underpin consistent and accessible eye care for patients across the UK.”

The roadshows, offering two CPD points, will take place in UK-wide locations on the following dates:

  • Edinburgh: 14 July
  • Cardiff: 15 July
  • Manchester: 22 July
  • Birmingham: 5 August
  • Belfast: 14 September.
