Modo receives design award for its R 1000 + Titanium collection
The Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 celebrates design and innovation in products over the past year
26 April 2021
Eyewear company, Modo, has received a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021, for its R 1000 + Titanium collection.
The Red Dot Award celebrates design and recognises some of the best products over the past year. A panel of 50 international jurors considered products “in search of good design and innovation,” against criteria that included the product’s quality and longevity.
Revealing the news, Modo Eyewear shared: “We are proud to announce that our innovative R 1000 + Titanium collection has been recognised with the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021.
“With more than 18,000 entries, the Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious design competitions.”
The R 1000 + Titanium frames feature memory plastic and are “super light” and flexible, the brand said, adding that the use of durable materials aims to provide a balance of “technique and aesthetics.”
Latest releases in the collection have introduced features such as hidden screwless hinges and PVD coating technology for a shiny finish on its Beta-titanium temples. Frames in the latest release also feature a new colouring technique, in which two colours are joined in the same piece of R 1000 material to create a layered front with different hues.
Announcing the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design for 2021, the organisation shared: “This year, the jurors were particularly struck by the high level of innovation of the award-winning entries,” adding that many of the products “offer solutions to contemporary problems and thus make a key contribution to the further development of global living standards.”
Modo’s R 1000 + Titanium frame will be included in the Red Dot website’s online exhibition beginning 21 June, as well as in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, Germany.
