Essilor appoints new managing director

Tim Precious returns to the company’s UK division to continue Mike Kirkley’s work

Essilor has appointed Tim Precious as managing director, who returns to the UK business after three years as vice president of its Nordics division.

He will continue the work of his predecessor, Mike Kirkley, and develop strategies to create stability and growth for Essilor’s customers.

Speaking about his appointment, Mr Precious said: “It has been an honour and privilege to work for Essilor over 13 years and I’m absolutely delighted to be driving our ongoing mission of improving lives by improving sight.”

Mr Precious has held roles at Essilor in seven countries, including country manager and projects director, as well as finance and commercial policy director.

Regional vice president at Essilor, Peter Smith, said: “Tim has a solid track record of achievement within the group in terms of leadership, strategy and innovation and remarkably broad experience of our sector.

“As part of our promise to be the independent optician’s best business partner, Tim will lead the team that explores every possible opportunity to create a more exciting business climate for our business partners.”
