It isn’t every day that a senior lecturer from Cardiff University tweets you to ask if you’d consider presenting your research at a vision workshop in Kazakhstan. But the timing was perfect – it fell just prior to two other conferences in my diary (1–3 September) and I was fascinated by the title, Advances in Eye Research Towards the Prevention of Visual Loss, so I optimistically submitted an application.
