Domiciliary eye care provider Visioncall will be integrated into OutsideClinic and the brand retired.

Visioncall, which provides eye care services to care homes, was acquired by Optimism Health Group through its subsidiary OutsideClinic in September 2021.

Following the acquisition, Visioncall operated under its own brand name but as of 11 October 2022, the Visioncall brand will be retired.

This will mean that OutsideClinic will now serve patients living at home, in sheltered or assisted living accommodation, or within care and nursing homes.

Henry Pitman, chairman of Optimism Health Group, said: “The more we collaborated with our Visioncall friends, the more we were struck by the common purpose we shared.”

“Bringing everything under the respected OutsideClinic name enables us to present a consistent face to the world, delivering further benefits to our patients, clients and staff, and driving our ambitious plans to scale the business,” Pitman added.

Pitman confirmed to OT that as part of the integration and subsequent transfer, the Visioncall team will remain in the same roles but will now be employed by OutsideClinic. He said: “The move is expected to create more optometry jobs and exciting career opportunities for everyone.”

OutsideClinic now has over 450 colleagues, with the company intending to grow by a further 20% over the next 18 months.

The Optimism Health Group intends to develop a “powerhouse brand” focusing on the provision of healthcare products and clinical services to older people.

In January 2022, OutsideClinic acquired the domiciliary eye care provider, Care Opticians.

More recently, the company launched a joint venture partnership model.

Pitman noted that the company has invested £1 million in a new lens manufacturing facility in Glasgow.

“Alongside this, we’re continuing to invest significantly in our business support infrastructure across scheduling, HR and marketing, while also ensuring that our talented team has access to the very latest testing equipment and digital record keeping systems,” Pitman continued.
