Orthoptists, optometrists and nurses are being invited to apply for a new degree apprenticeship programme offered by University College London (UCL) in partnership with Moorfields Eye Hospital.

The advanced clinical practice in ophthalmology MSc degree apprenticeship combines study with working part-time.

Applicants apply in conjunction with their employer and the degree is funded through the employer’s apprenticeship levy.

A course description on the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology’s website highlights that the programme was developed by practising clinicians and will allow students to develop an understanding of clinical care in the context of the latest ophthalmic research and treatments.

Compulsory modules cover clinical leadership, research methods and statistics, project report and end point assessment.

Glaucoma, medical contact lenses, medical retina and cataracts are included in optional modules.
