The optometry competition and charity fundraiser, Optoversity Challenge 2024, returns on 7 April with a day of online quizzes.

Run by the student training provider, Out of the Box Optics, the competition will see students from seven universities put their optical knowledge to the test.

Students compete in light-hearted online optical quizzes against others in their year group.

Four optometry students who receive top scores in the quiz for third years will then go through to an objective structured clinical examination-style competition where the final winner will be decided.

Entrants are also encouraged to raise funds for Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP).

Competing students will join from Anglia Ruskin University, Aston University, the University of Bradford, City, University of London, Technological University Dublin, the University of Huddersfield, the University of Manchester, the University of Plymouth, Ulster University, and the University of the West of England.

Prizes have been sponsored by Birmingham Optical, Heine, Keeler, Optelec, Scope, Specsavers, Thea, Topcon, the College of Optometrists, and FODO.

Birmingham Optical shared that the fundraiser was “close to our hearts,” adding: “Our team is thrilled to be able to contribute in some way to help make a difference in the lives of those in need.”
