An Optometry Wellbeing Day will be held at the Kettering Park Hotel in Northamptonshire on 12 May.

The event will feature yoga, mindful creative sessions, physiotherapy support, motivational talks with guest speaker, Dhruvin Patel, CPD, and an evening ball with a three-course dinner and DJ.

Optometrist, Sheena Tanna-Shah, who organised the event alongside her husband and fellow optometrist, Piyus Tanna, shared that mental health and wellbeing has been a focus for her after her own experience of anxiety and depression.

“It made every day feel like a survival day rather than a thriving day,” she shared.

After undergoing training to be able to help others, Tanna-Shah established her wellbeing company, Inspiring Success.

In 2023, she delivered 60 wellbeing-based CPD sessions, both in person and online, alongside her husband.

“We saw through the phenomenal feedback that there was a huge need for this and to continue doing more. You can be the best clinician, have all the skills, tools and products clinically but if you don't feel happy for whatever reason it will impact not just your personal life but professional life,” she shared.

There will be six interactive CPD points on offer at the Optometry Wellbeing Day in May, with everyone within the eye care profession welcome to attend.

“The ultimate purpose is to bring the eye care profession together in a relaxed, fun, informal gathering and focus on wellbeing. We are always serving our patients, but it is important to serve and support ourselves first,” Tanna-Shah said.

Those interested in finding out more or booking a place can contact Tanna-Shah by email. The event cost is £159, with a group booking discount available.
