100% Optical: “Bigger, bolder, brighter”

The tradeshow opens for delegate registrations with more exhibitors signed up in 2019

100% Optical 2018 Catwalk

The UK’s leading optical event, 100% Optical, has opened for delegate registration, promising to be a “bigger, bolder, brighter one-stop show.”

Taking place on 12–14 January at ExCel London, attendees can discover new brands and products, alongside a high-quality programme of education designed by the AOP.

Event director, Nathan Garnett, explained: “Our one-stop show offers visitors a journey of discovery by showcasing the biggest ever collection of brands and suppliers under one roof, alongside the opportunity to gain invaluable CET points as part of a world class education programme.

“It has cemented itself as the place to gather optical information, follow eyewear trends with the vibrant catwalk shows and discover the latest equipment. It also aims to inspire visitors with business intelligence and ideas to help them identify and work towards their future vision, be it for personal career progression or their optical practice,” he continued.

Welcoming new brands

New for 2019 is an eyewear week initiative running from 7–13 January, where 100% Optical aims to generate public awareness around eyewear trends and technology by highlighting the latest designs from established brands and up-and-coming designers.

The organisers confirmed that the equipment hub will be the biggest yet, reflecting how it is a growth area for the industry. Over 130 new eyewear, equipment, lenses and business services brands have confirmed their support for 2019.

New exhibitors for 2019 include Topcon, International Eyewear, Dunelm, Mainline Instruments, Lafont and Hanson Instruments.

The organisers confirmed that 75% of the floor space has been booked by exhibitors.

Programme riches

The AOP-led education programme will cover a broad array of topics. This will include the latest myopia research, guidance for newly qualified optometrists on improving referrals, the impact of artificial intelligence, the implications of the obesity time bomb, and modern approaches to dry eye management.

New for 2019, the British Academy of Audiology has been announced as an official partner and will support the education seminar programme for the audiology hub, alongside the Association of Optometrists.

The AOP Awards also return for 2019, alongside ample business networking and socialising opportunities, plus the “after party” on Saturday night at the central bar.

The organisers highlighted that travel to 100% Optical will be quicker than ever for attendees, with the Crossrail connection due to open in time for the show, making it easier to travel to London from the west and east and from Heathrow airport.
