It's show time

The OT  team is packed and ready for another 100% Optical extravaganza

100% Optical

When it comes to finding a way to get fully immerse in the profession, it is hard to beat the experience of attending a trade show.

And three years on from the inaugural 100% Optical, the organisers have continued to fine-tune and finesse the event to create a show that puts the visitor’s needs first.

With the AOP events team leading on the programme of education, there are a wealth of sessions that OT is certainly excited to cover. Moorfields consultant Dr Pearse Keane’s presentation on Binocular OCT – reinventing the eye examination for one promises to explore why the eye examination will fundamentally change in the next few years.

The show does not shy away from the big and difficult questions affecting the profession. Take, for example, the debate Optometry is doomed, and The rise of the robots presentation by the AOP’s clinical advisor, Peter Hampson: two robust sessions hosted in the AOP lounge (W300) that will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the profession – and also worth one CET point each.

100% Optical is an event that is designed to bring together and offer support for every member of the practice team. From Top tips on buying eyewear delivered by practice owner Janan Choudhury, and advice on Career development – optical support teams from Nick Walsh, to Best frame fitting for optical support staff by ABDO’s expert Sally Bates, the education content recognises that practice success is reliant on a high-performing and ambitious team.

And for those still on the journey to qualification, the Sunday session in the AOP’s lounge is a dedicated ‘bootcamp’ for pre-reg optometrists, offering advice on how to prepare for stage two and OSCE assessments with an interactive discussion on patient cases.

The event offers brilliant access to the product and service providers that are also shaping the future of the profession. From Heidelberg Engineering’s Spectralis Imaging Platform and Birmingham Optical’s NIDEK OCT, to Optos’ Daytona and BIB Ophthalmic Instruments digital LED slit lamp, not to mention hundreds of frames brands, 100% Optical offers the opportunity to get up close and personal with sector-leading products.

OT’s intelligence gathering for new articles does not stop at the sessions on offer. We will be on the AOP stand, W300, so please stop by and share your thoughts on the topics that matter the most to you.
