The Hospital Optometrists Annual Conference offers a series of webinars open to those working within secondary care as well as practitioners based in primary care and other settings.
The programme will deliver a diverse range of clinical content and delegates are invited to attend all of the sessions or choose individual activities based upon their clinical interests.
In addition to the webinars, there will be general and specialty peer reviews which are reserved for hospital optometrists only.

Specialty peer review for hospital optometrists
Peer review is a great way to share ideas and reflect on different approaches. You will be presented with cases to discuss in small groups with your peers. Delegates will benefit from:
- Cases specifically designed for specialty optometrists working in a secondary care setting
- Hearing different approaches to managing clinical situations from their peers
- Recognising the importance of reflection on current and future practice
CPD
- This session is approved for 3 interactive CPD points and by attending you will be fulfilling the GOC’s peer review requirement for specialty optometrists
- To be eligible for the CPD points you need to attend for the duration of the session and be able to participate in interactive polls
- You will not be eligible for the CPD points if you join using audio only

Dr Vijay Anand
Dr Vijay Anand is the deputy head of optometry at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Trust. He currently works in extended role clinics in cornea, cataract, urgent care and early keratoconus management clinics and medical contact lenses and has previously worked within glaucoma medical retina and low vision clinics in his 20 years of hospital service. He was involved in the setting up of the optometrist-led keratoconus service, optometrist-led glaucoma and urgent care clinics at Moorfields. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on medical contact lenses, keratoconus management, non-medical cataract clinics, and referral refinement for optometrists and glaucoma tube assessment for optometrists.
Thomas Hamper
Thomas Hamper is a specialist optometrist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital with additional supply, supplementary prescribing and independent prescribing specialties.
Learning outcome
- Practitioners will be able to make appropriate management decisions in a secondary care environment for patients with a range of clinical presentations
