The AOP welcomes three members to its Hospital Optometrists Committee

The Association of Optometrists (AOP) welcomes one newly elected and two re-elected members to its Hospital Optometrists Committee (HOC), which represents and supports the interests of optometrists working within hospital settings.

The Committee plays a crucial role in shaping policy, supporting postgraduate education and upholding best practice in hospital optometry.

The newly elected members are:

  • Deirdre Burns, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust
  • Elizabeth Hunt, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board
  • Alison Weston, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Emma Spofforth, AOP Chairman of the Board and Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome the new Committee members, whose considerable knowledge and experience in hospital optometry will enrich the Committee’s work.

“We would like to thank all the candidates who took part in the election, and we commend their dedication to ensuring progress in the hospital optometry field.”

The voting process took place between 23 April and 7 May.

Elected members will serve a three-year term and formally assume their positions at the Annual General Meeting in June.
