Represent your peers on AOP Council
Applications are now open for the Northern Ireland designated position alongside six others for the AOP’s Council
The Association of Optometrists (AOP) is encouraging applications for seven positions on its Council, including the representative post for Northern Ireland as Brian McKeown steps down.
Having served on Council for 12 years, Brian McKeown reflected on his tenure, saying: “I joined the Council to meet other like-minded professionals who were keen to progress optometry in their region. As a Councillor representing Northern Ireland, it has meant I got a seat on the Optometry Northern Ireland committee, and I really enjoyed having the close relationship with the AOP to help on advice and guidance for matters in Northern Ireland.”
“If you want to learn more, meet people who can inspire you to move your career forward, and give you some job variety, then being a Northern Ireland AOP Council member is for you.”
Councillors play a vital role in furthering the interests of optometry, broadening the AOP’s influence, and supporting policy initiatives.
The open Council positions include:
- Academic optometrist
- Domiciliary care optometrist
- Franchisee and Joint Venture partner
- Newly-qualified optometrist
- Northern Ireland
- Pre-registration optometrist
- Undergraduate student.
Applications for Council appointments are open, closing on 11 April.
Newly appointed Councillors will be welcomed to the Council at the June AGM. For more on the Council appointments process and how to apply, visit www.aop.org.uk/appointments.
