New edition of Making accurate claims in England

A 2024 version of the essential guide for members is now available

The Association of Optometrists (AOP), has published the latest edition of Making accurate claims in England 2024 – an in-depth guide on making a claim. The resource is produced for the optical profession in England by the AOP, supported by ABDO and FODO.

The downloadable resource for members is designed to provide step-by-step advice to contractors, optometrists and dispensing opticians who are making a claim for General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) work in England. The guide also extends to ophthalmic medical practitioners (OMPs).

Dr Peter Hampson, Clinical and Policy Director at the AOP said: “This guide is essential for any contractor, optometrist or dispensing optician performing GOS work in England.

“We know that navigating the GOS fees and claims process can be complex and sometimes difficult. This guide is designed to be easy to follow, covering every type of claim, to enable practitioners to go through the claims journey more smoothly, and help prevent reclaims in the future.”

The guidance is based on the most recent regulations NHS General Ophthalmic Services and optical vouchers and payments regulations in England.

Making accurate claims 2024 is available to download.

The guide forms part of a suite of resources designed to support members with GOS claims. AOP members can also access the GOS audit tool.
