Representing your voice

Our student representatives give you a voice

studentreps 2019

We want to make sure we're offering you the right guidance and support throughout your degree and as you prepare to qualify.

Our student representatives help us to ensure that our student members’ interests are addressed at a local and national level.

Your university’s AOP student representatives will listen and share your views and experiences with us, so we hear the voices and can address the needs and concerns of optometry students across the UK.

As part of their role at the AOP, our student representatives:

  • Share the views and experiences of their fellow students with us, helping to develop AOP student benefits and initiatives
  • Act as the face and voice of your university’s optometry course, contributing to student communications on AOP social media and in our journal Optometry Today (OT)
  • Get involved in planning, contributing to and shaping the AOP’s work, both in our support of students and the profession generally
  • Attend student rep meetings to collaborate and network with the 14 other reps at universities across the UK
