Optometry Today ’s new guide on contact lenses

Optometry Today  publishes a new contact lens guide, in partnership with the Association of Optometrists and CooperVision

The Contact Lens Guide supports eye care professionals in enhancing the patient’s journey from recommendation and first fit, to the trial period and ensuring long-term contact lens success.

The resource offers insights from experienced practitioners on their approach to fitting lenses, and engaging with and guiding patients through digital resources as well as on the practice floor, and solving visual problems.

Selina Powell, OT’s Features Editor, said: “Contact lenses can be a liberating alternative for spectacle wearers as this mode of correction can keep up with the pace of their varied lifestyle needs. This guide has been designed to support eye care professionals in providing an effective and efficient contact lens journey, while helping patients get the best out of their contact lenses.”

The guide is a free resource for practitioners that will cover the role of the practice team in supporting patients through application and removal training, embracing technology within the patient journey, matching contact lenses to an individual’s life stage and an insight into contact lenses for film.

Christina Olner, Head of Professional Affairs UK and Ireland at CooperVision, said: “Opening up the opportunity for patients to experience the freedom and confidence that contact lenses can offer means looking at things from a fresh perspective. Changing the way things are done is never easy, but the pleasure seen on a patient’s face makes it all worthwhile.”

The guide will be available online and as a standalone publication alongside the December/January edition of OT, landing on 09 December.
