100% Optical 2022 changes dates in response to the rise in Omicron cases

100% Optical will now take place at ExCeL London from 23–25 April 2022 to ensure safety of visitors and exhibitors

The first major UK optical event since the start of the pandemic, 100% Optical, will now take place in April 2022 in light of rapid rising cases of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the UK.

Amid growing concerns, and potential new restrictions in early 2022, event organisers Media 10 took the difficult decision to move the three-day trade show event from January to 23–25 April.

The Association of Optometrists (AOP) have been working with Media 10 on the decision and expressed its full endorsement for the move.

Adam Sampson, AOP Chief Executive, said: “We fully support Media 10 in the decision to delay 100% Optical 2022, and applaud the speed at which the team has found a new date in April. As the show’s official partner, we look forward to being part of an event that brings the profession together again – but only at a time when it is safe for everyone to do so.”

Dr Ian Beasley, AOP Head of Education, said: “I am sure that rescheduling 100% Optical to the Spring will be acknowledged by our members as the right decision against the backdrop of such uncertainty. The AOP will now look forward to delivering our comprehensive programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in April, featuring an outstanding line-up of speakers for the new dates.”

COVID safety measures had been introduced for 100% Optical – including providing proof of a double vaccination (NHS COVID Pass), COVID-19 antibodies, or a negative lateral flow test, and mask-wearing inside the venue – is likely to remain in place for the event in April.

Media 10 has confirmed that all visitor registrations will automatically be transferred to the new dates.

Details on visitor registration is available on the 100% Optical website
