Third edition of myopia management education

MAYopia Day will take place on Sunday 12 May

The Association of Optometrists (AOP), in partnership with Optometry Today (OT) and headline sponsor CooperVision, are hosting a third edition of myopia-themed education, providing insights on myopia management in clinical practice.

The full day event will include sessions developed in collaboration with CooperVision, Essilor, Topcon Healthcare, the Vision team at Johnson & Johnson, Specsavers, Bausch + Lomb and Hoya – covering areas such as evidence-based management techniques, communications tools in effective management, orthokeratology, and public messaging in myopia.

Ian Beasley, AOP Head of Education, said: “As myopia management continues to be an increasingly relevant area of clinical practice, practitioners are keen to keep pace with emerging strategies to improve patient care. The education sessions have been designed to provide guidance to eye care professionals on effective interventions for myopia control, approaches to assessing treatment efficacy and best practice for enhanced patient care.”

The sessions will be delivered by international experts in myopia management including, Elizabeth Lumb, Director of Global Professional Affairs for myopia management at CooperVision, Nicola Logan, Professor of Optometry at Aston University and Director of Research for the Optometry and Vision Science Research Group and Dr Noel Brennan, internationally renowned scientist, inventor, and research fellow at Johnson & Johnson.

Wendy Steele, AOP Commercial Director, said: “We are pleased to be able to work with our industry partners to provide a comprehensive education programme which offers practitioners from all areas of clinical practice the opportunity to update their knowledge and training on a rapidly evolving clinical area.”

From the seven live webinars, delegates can choose to attend all sessions or select individual sessions relevant to their clinical interests. Each session offers one interactive CPD point designed to bolster professional development in contemporary myopia management.
