The Myopia Guide: a new resource from Optometry Today

A free supplement delivered by Optometry Today , in partnership with CooperVision

Optometry Today, the journal of the Association of Optometrists, has created a free guide for members on myopia, in partnership with CooperVision.

The Myopia Guide details the latest evidence and insights on myopia, myopia management treatment options and how these solutions can be translated into practice safely.

Research optometrist, AOP Councillor and contributor to the guide, Dr Stephanie Kearney said: “Myopia management is an exciting treatment strategy developing at pace in the optometric community.

This guide has been an opportunity to consolidate and showcase that work and the growing evidence base that supports it.”

Dr Kearney continued: “Drawing on a range of experiences, from those starting out in myopia management to those looking to extend their offering, it provides practical tips for introducing these strategies safely. Myopia management is currently far from the mainstream, so hopefully these insights and shared learning experiences will open-up the conversation so we can begin to explore what can really work for patients.”

Professional Services Consultant at CooperVision, Hema Patel, said: “CooperVision is passionate about empowering eye care professionals (ECPs) to change the trajectory of childhood myopia. The myopia guide is a useful resource for ECPs whether they are new or experienced in myopia management providing insights from key opinion leaders working in academia and both primary and secondary eyecare.”

The 20-page guide is part of a broader offering to help ensure that practitioners have the knowledge and support they need to offer myopia management for their patients. It will be issued with the upcoming October/November edition of Optometry Today from 9 October.
