Children and screen time

Eye health tips for parents this summer holiday

Two children viewing a mobile screen

Our recent Voice of Optometry insight panel survey showed us that parents are worried that screen use is damaging their children’s eyes – with 80% of optometrists reporting they have had patients, in the last month, who have raised concerns.1

With school summer holiday’s starting this week, and more screen time likely, we’re offering parents four simple tips to help make sure their child’s eyes stay healthy this summer.

To dispel some of the myths about screen time and promote the importance of regular sight tests for children, we’ve produced a new patient leaflet, Screen time – facts for parents and blog to support our campaign.

For more information read our press release.

AOP members can find additional resources for highlighting the importance of sight tests for children in our For patients section. You may also find our new position statement on blue light helpful.
