ABDO appoints new head of CET

Dispensing and contact lens optician, Alexandra Webster, will take over from Paula Stevens in August

Alexandra Webster

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) has appointed Alexandra Webster to take over from the outgoing head of continuing education and training (CET), Paula Stevens.

Ms Webster is a dispensing and contact lens optician, as well as a practical examiner for ophthalmic dispensing, a probationary contact lens examiner and a practice visit assessor for ABDO.

Speaking about her new role, Ms Webster said: “I am excited to be taking on this new role with ABDO. The organisation has done such a significant amount to develop and produce fantastic CET. I want to build on these existing achievements and ensure that what we offer remains relevant for members in a changing landscape.”

Ms Webster will take up the position from Ms Stevens in August, who announced in February that she would fully retire in 2020. In the meantime, Ms Stevens will handle the distance learning aspect of ABDO CET.

CEO of ABDO, Antony Garrett, said: “Alex brings a strong mix of skills and experience to the department which will help her to shape and develop our CET offering to all members in the years ahead.”
