CHEC, the community-based ophthalmology and endoscopy service provider, has announced plans to open its first site in Hampshire.

A new treatment centre is set to be opened in Basingstoke in December, expanding the footprint of the service provider across England.

The new site will be based in the centre of Basingstoke, making it accessible for the local community, CHEC said.

The Basingstoke centre will be CHEC’s 17th site in England, and follows the recent opening of a site in Accrington.

Jon Dore, chief operating officer at CHEC, said: “The expansion of our services across the South will help us reach more patients that are in urgent need of efficient, high-quality eye treatment and diagnostic endoscopy services.”

CHEC suggested that the new site will assist the NHS in providing ophthalmic care.

Dore continue: “As NHS backlogs are continuing to rise, it’s vital that we provide the services to support patients in as many locations across the UK as possible.”

“We look forward to welcoming the Basingstoke community to our new facility and supporting them with their healthcare needs,” he added.
