Optometrist to run London Marathon for Fight for Sight

Charlotte Wisdom aims to complete the 26.2-mile distance for charity

A Bournemouth-based optometrist is in training for the London Marathon to raise funds for Fight for Sight.

Charlotte Wisdom has opted to support the eye research charity through the challenge because she chose to train as an optometrist “to help people see the world better,” she told OT.

“It’s all too familiar to tell patients that I can’t help them as their eye condition doesn’t have a cure yet – Fight for Sight helps to change this,” Ms Wisdom emphasised.

Ms Wisdom has been preparing for the marathon, which she said is on her bucket list to complete, since finding out she had a place. Her longest run to date has been 17 miles.

By completing the 26.2-mile race in London in April, the optometrist aims to raise £2500 for Fight for Sight and is currently organising bake sales, coffee mornings, a quiz night and a raffle to help her reach her target.
