Sandeep Dhallu

What is your professional passion?

I am currently a research fellow at Aston University, working on a range of clinical trials investigating areas like the ocular impact of UV, the benefit of UV filtering contact lenses, oxygen permeability of modern mini-scleral contact lenses and validation of new digital assessment tools.

What are you most proud of?

Buying and doing up my first home.

What do you like most/least about your working day?

I love the variety that comes with each day, but I do sometimes miss daylight.

What is the one thing you couldn’t live without?

I should say my family and friends, but, in truth, it is chocolate.

How do you manage a work/life balance?

Maintaining a work/life balance has steadily become more of a challenge, but I always try to set aside regular downtime in my schedule for the things I enjoy. I also love a geeky colour coordinated excel spreadsheet to help keep me organised.

What do you do to unwind?

Hot yoga and a good box set on Netflix.

You have won the OT lottery. What are the first three things you would do with the £1m jackpot?

I would clear my mortgage, treat my family and friends, and explore the world.

Do you have your next holiday booked?

Not yet, but I got a taste of South East Asia earlier this year with a trip to Hong Kong, which has whetted my appetite for further travel of this region.
