Broxbourne practice celebrates award win

E&G Opticians in Broxbourne has received a Global Healthcare & Pharma award for ‘Independent Opticians of the Year.’

The awards recognise excellence in services in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector.

A panel of judges considered factors including the history of the practice, the standard of customer service, Google reviews and social media presence.

E&G Opticians, a Hakim Group independent practice, has been part of its community in Broxbourne since 1987.

Dispensing optician, Shabnam Fazl, stepped in as director of the practice following the retirement of the previous owner.

With more than 16 years of experience in the optical industry, Fazl has now been in the practice for a year, alongside resident optometrist Avi, and practice manager, Louise.

The practice closed earlier in 2023 for a refurbishment to modernise the interior and create a “fresh, bright space.”

Fazl said of the award: “It was a very pleasant surprise to find out we’d received the award. I think we’re all still slightly in shock. Emotions were definitely very high in practice that day.”

“We’re such a happy team of people and we love the work that we do, and so it’s with immense pride that we share this recognition with our loyal patients and our beloved local community,” she added.

Looking ahead to the future, Fazl said: “Our aspiration is to offer an even more personalised and bespoke eye care service, setting new benchmarks within the optical community.”

The practice also intends to enhance its engagement with local care homes to extend services out to patients who may face travel constraints.
