High Street multiple Specsavers has introduced myopia management products into its practices across the UK and Republic of Ireland, following investment in training for its clinicians.

Both practitioners and retail staff across the multiple have completed myopia management training through a combination online learning and roadshows, designed to “enable them to recommend and prescribe myopia management glasses and contact lenses based on patients’ individual circumstances and clinical needs,” a release by Specsavers stated.

Head of ophthalmic lenses and dispensing at Specsavers, Paul Gough, explained: “At Specsavers we’re always striving for clinical excellence. Our national launch of myopia management is another demonstration of our passion for clinical growth and care.”

“To ensure our colleagues are able to offer the best possible advice and care to customers, we have a very comprehensive accreditation process for all clinicians and retail colleagues, which must be completed before supplying myopia management products to customers,” he added.

The launch includes the offering of a contact lens and spectacle lens option for patients, with Specsavers confirming it has worked closely with CooperVision and Hoya to ensure staff are knowledgeable and able to communicate effectively about the products.
