Vision Express is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a look back at eyewear trends from the past three decades and how they’ve influenced today’s styles.

Director of professional services at Vision Express, Jay Ghadiali, said: “For 30 years we’ve been committed to providing the best personalised optical care, style and quality. Whether it’s a vintage style or modern look, customers can select from a wide range of glasses, contact lenses and sunglasses, allowing everybody to reflect their individual personalities, lifestyles and eye health – no matter the decade of inspiration.”

The multiple said that since opening its first practice in Newcastle in 1988, the classic wayfarer frame shape has been a best seller, with actors like Tom Cruise popularising the look.

Vision Express noted that frames with coloured lenses have historically sold well. Worn by Bono, Britney Spears and Liam Gallagher in the 1990s, the multiple said that the style is still popular today among celebrities including Beyoncé and Robert Downey Jr.

The aviator shape had a resurgence in the 2000s with Brad Pitt wearing the style and its popularity remains on the big screen with Daniel Craig sporting a pair as James Bond in Skyfall.
